Maegan's First Game

Maegan's first time to cheer was yesterday. She had a blast. She got a star for best effort! How cute is she in her uniform?!

Baby Mohawk------------------------- Baby comb-over!!!!!

Logan is doing better. He had an ear infection for which he had to be on antibiotics but his follow-up appointment last week showed no more sign of infection, yay!!! He weighs 12lbs. 4oz. now and we go back in February for his 4 month check up. His hair is starting to fall out and it looks like it may be coming back in more of a strawberry blonde color...........

Sneezing and coughing and boogers OH MY!

Well, we've officially broken Logan in......he has his first cold :( He was running a fever when I picked him up from daycare on Friday. He's had a pretty rough weekend. You know it's pretty bad when a baby smiles after you use a bulb syringe to suck the snot out of their nose....yuk! He's feeling better today but he will be going to see his pediatrician tomorrow just to make sure it's nothing more than a cold.

Review of 2008

Since it is the end of 2008 and I'm just now starting this blog, I suppose it would be appropriate for me to do a year recap since it's been such a doozy!

January began as a hopeful start for a positive year with nursing school and surgery behind me but I managed to bring it in with a horrible case of acute bronchitis. Don't recommend that for anyone! Maegan started her second half of the 3rd grade and as always was anxious for the Rodeo in March.

In February Nick and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary! We both laughed that we hadn't killed each other yet and were both looking forward to a less stressful year. My nephew Dalton was inducted into the Junior National Honor Society. Here is a picture with him and his parents. By the end of March we were both rethinking the miracle of us not killing each other :P This is the month that we found out we were going to have a baby..........Keep in mind Maegan will be 10 in September! Shock, fear, excitement and concern were only a few of the emotions we both felt but excitement won over all. Obviously God has a sense of humor and a plan for Nick and I that we are both unaware of.

So above is us breaking the news to Maegan.......you can see for yourself how that went.......and then she got to go see Hannah Montana at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo which almost helped her forget that her world of being an only child was about to end.

April was somewhat uneventful. Nick celebrated his 36th birthday......and I use celebrate very loosely :) I continued to work full-time at our local hospital as a nurse and was managing to get over the morning sickness and fatigue of being pregnant......oh yeah, it didn't go away....it was for real!

And just when we thought that our hard times were behind us.....May came! I started this moth off with 2nd degree burns to my thighs and left foot for which I got to take my first (and let's hope last) ride in an ambulance. Let's just say I'm not allowed to make tea anymore and if I were I don't have any pitchers cause the glass one broke. On a more happy note we bought a new truck that I've been wanting forever!

Maegan completed the 3rd grade and earned and advancement to 4th grade. She got commendments on her Reading TAKS test and stayed on the A-B honor roll all year!

To Cool for the Last day of School and Maegan telling her teacher good-bye!

In June we got our first peak at the little person that was making my belly protrude and my rear get wider! We found out we were having a BOY! Nick and I were thrilled but Maegan once again was not impressed. She wanted a sister so that she could 'teach her things'.......I convinced her finally that a boy would be better because he wouldn't be interested in her jewelry and special things.....she totally bought it :P

The only thing to report for July was that it was H-O-T!!!!!

August brought more distressing news. I began having problems with pre-labor contractions and my doctor put me on bedrest :( I did not do well with this at all..... I love to work and did not deal well with being told I couldn't......... but in the end I had to accept that it was best for the baby and had to put on my big girl panties and deal with it! So I learned how to crochet and did a lot of reading.

September, for us, could be renamed the month of IKE. We began watching Ike at the beginning of September and he made landfall at night on the 12th. We stayed and weathered the storm. We were very fortunate to not have any major losses. We were without power for 12 days but we did have a generator and window unit so my pregnant self wasn't too miserable.
Standing on Levy road looking toward Surfside around 2pm before the storm hit...crazy I know!

October is the month that changed our lives forever. Logan Keith Carroll arrived on October 16 2008 at 1:57 pm

7lbs. 5oz. 20 inches

Maegan decided that we didn't have to sell him to the circus!
Big Sister is soooooo happy!

And baby makes four

But October wasn't over.....we still had to go trick or treating and carve pumpkins.....learn how to function on 3 hours of sleep........

November was full of changing diapers, making bottles and remaining sane as Nick and I still became accustomed to a baby that doesn't understand when the sun goes down it is time to sleep. Really though he is very good! We also signed Maegan up for cheerleading with Upward. It's a christian based sports league.....She is so excited!

On December 1st Logan weighed 10lbs. 7oz. and was 22 inches long.....he is growing so fast! I went back to work on the 4th with very mixed emotions. He, however, survived without any emotion.....I guess that's the way it should be. It snowed briefly again.
This is the second time in 3 years.
Logan is smiling a lot and loves his big sister.

Everytime she picks him up he manages to get his hands in her hair......I'm having a hard time convincing her still that he doesn't know what he's doing.

On Christmas day my mom was convinced she was going to catch one of Logan's smiles on camera....this was the best she got!

We spent a simple Christmas with our families and enjoyed the season.

Well, that was our year. Hope I didn't bore you too much!
See ya in 2009...... Okay, so I'm going to attempt this blogging business so that others can see my kiddos more frequently. I'm just playing with it tonight......hopefully in the next couple of days I'll give a recap of the past couple of months.

Until then...... :) Lou
